Sora alternative for stories told scene by scene

Plan a Sora alternative workflow after its discontinuation. Reuse creative notes and references, then test available video models in MakeStory.

Check the current status first

A Sora alternative workflow starts with your story notes and character references, then tests a currently available video model. OpenAI discontinued Sora's web and app on April 26, 2026, and its API on September 24, 2026. MakeStory has no Sora integration; check OpenAI's current notice for any available content exports.

MakeStory does not offer Sora or import its project files. Its current video choices are Grok Imagine 1.5 and Seedance 2.5. A replacement starts with your story decisions and reference material, followed by fresh tests in the available workflow.

Recover the decisions behind the clip

For a story about a fox repairing a lantern, record what made the accepted scene work: the fox's red scarf, the lantern's brass body, the dusk palette and the moment the light returned. Preserve your own exported files and notes where available. The old prompt alone may omit important choices you accepted in the output.

Build a replacement scene deliberately

  1. List the scenes you still need and the parts of existing work you can already keep.
  2. Write a character brief and collect reference images you own or have permission to use.
  3. Use MakeStory's planner to separate action, dialogue and timing, then test one scene with a currently available model.
  4. Review continuity, sound and credits before producing the rest. Download accepted outputs and keep the settings with your notes.

An original scene to test

A fox in a red scarf tightens the brass lid of a lantern. The light flickers once, then holds steady. The fox lowers its shoulders and smiles. Keep the camera still and the dusk colors consistent. End on the lit lantern, with no extra characters entering.

Compare against the story requirement

Check whether the light changes at the right moment and whether the scarf and lantern remain recognizable. Evaluate the new clip as part of the episode. Chasing an exact recreation can waste attempts without improving the story. A different result may work if it preserves the action and mood.

Can the next model reproduce the old clip exactly? There is no such guarantee. Confirm access, offered settings and the current quote before planning a full replacement. This guide describes a production approach, not restoration of a discontinued service or a promise that an export window remains open.
