Write words that have time to be read
Start by reading the dialogue aloud. If a line feels rushed, simplify it before rendering. Subtitles cannot rescue a story with more words than the scene can hold. Give the viewer time to see the action as well as read.
MakeStory includes subtitle controls in the video workflow. This guide concerns captions on story videos, not an advertised standalone transcription service for arbitrary uploads.
Review the transcript against the audio
- Check names, unusual words and punctuation.
- Remove accidental repetitions and confirm that the text matches what is actually spoken.
- Break lines at a natural phrase boundary.
- Check contrast over both bright and dark parts of the scene.
- Watch the export on a phone and keep captions clear of platform controls.
Treat placement as part of the composition
Do not cover the detail that explains the story. If a hand opens a notebook near the bottom of the frame, choose framing or caption placement that lets the viewer see it. Check the real platform upload preview because interface controls can move.
Listen once with headphones, once on the phone speaker and once with sound off. These checks reveal different problems. Keep a transcript or captions with important public examples so more people can follow them.
Export and check again
An editor preview is only one check. Download the final file, inspect synchronization and review the first and last caption. Correct spelling before posting rather than relying on a platform to repair it.
Generation and assembly need available services and an appropriate plan. Model output and automatic transcription can contain mistakes, so review is part of the workflow.
